&#8212; what&#8217;s the line between wanting to genuinely help women and people with health and wellness and just adding to the noise that exists out there, it&#8217;s tough!</p><p><em><strong>Currently simplifying: </strong></em>my business &#8212; working on keeping things streamlined and easy for women to navigate, from simple offers to easy to digest information. So my brain feels like it&#8217;s &#8220;learning&#8221; or more like taking in a lot, but I&#8217;m not really deeply learning something and applying it. That being said, I do love learning, and this is inspiring me to choose one single topic to dive into during May! For some of us, we might still be slowly catching up (metabolically speaking) after winter, perhaps feeling ungrounded or chaotic as we continue moving forward in the season. Here are a few easy things to weave into your day that could help soothe the nervous system so your body is supported and you feel more balanced (in mind and body):</p><ul><li><p><em>schedule down days, so you know you have at least 1 day per week with no schedule to catch up and take a breath</em></p></li><li><p><em>pop those feet on the grass &#8212; daily</em></p></li><li><p><em>take short walks whenever you can. no podcasts, no music (well, calm or groovy music works too!), but in general as undistracted as possible. Let your eyes wander. </em></p></li><li><p><em>take a hot shower with no lights on at night. the warmth from the shower plus the darkness creates an insulating effect that soothes the nervous system (and seriously winds you down for sleep)</em></p></li></ul><h3>what to release </h3><p><em>Old layers</em> &#8212; in a self sense, in a clothing sense, in a posessions sense, all of it. Spring is the natural awakening, the natural new year, and it&#8217;s a wonderful time to really let go of anything that isn&#8217;t helping to move us forward. There&#8217;s a reason spring cleaning is a thing this time of year. Apply that concept to any area of your life, whether it&#8217;s patterns (thoughts, actions, mindsets) or old habits, your clothes or a routine that needs a revamp. It can be fun to sit down and really think how this can extend to every crevice of life to see things in a new way. </p><h3>what to protect</h3><p><em>Your energy</em> &#8212; it can be really easy to overdo it in spring, it&#8217;s exciting and energizing to have warmth and long days again. But if we aren&#8217;t tuning in to ourselves, we can easily over do it. This is where those nervous system reminders come in handy, to help balance out the outward energy with some inward focus. </p><h3><em>one</em> simple wellness goal</h3><p>If I were to impart some wellness wisdom upon you for the month ahead, it would be this: <strong>simply aim to add more fiber into your diet this month.</strong> With the focus being heavily on protein, protein, protein, I want to step in and tell you first hand from working with women that while it is important to eat enough protein, most women are overreating protein and forgetting about carbs, and fiber especially. Cue digestion, liver and blood sugar issues. </p><p>So this month, grab a can of chickpeas, mix then with some minced red onion, some artichoke hearts, maybe some bell pepper, drizzle with vinegar, olive oil and dijon mustard, sprinkle with some sea salt and bam, you have yourself an easy little fiber loaded side dish to add to each meal.
